On August 8th, 2014, The InTune Mother (TIM) along with management and residents at South Hampton Estates (SHE) hopes to demonstrate to hundreds of other school children around the College Park area a shared vision to empower communities through education in remote areas of Fulton County. The residents at South Hampton Estates are embarking on a “Be Prepared To Learn” campaign to broaden their cultural horizons and become members of a communal family dedicated to education.
How can one dollar prepare a child to learn? It doesn’t buy much in the Metro City of Atlanta. But in the City of College Park, it can buy a pack of pencils, prepare a child for education, and transform a life. In a community where many odds are stacked against them, that pencil can empower a child to read, write, and learn. The InTune Mother’s program goal is to encourage children, who are ultimately our future leaders, to learn the value of philanthropy by collecting dollars for community empowerment.
South Hampton Estates’ students/residents will have an opportunity to study the culture of what community and leadership means by learning how to work and share together in the Be Prepared To Learn campaign, and come to understand their own capacity as philanthropists – one gift at a time.
The InTune Mother plans to use local and social media to bring awareness to the South Hampton Estates community at large. Our unique community consists of single moms, families, singles, foster families, college students, and seniors. A large population of the community are low-income, single mothers. The others are working families, but are still in economic hardship. It is our goal to assist these families, by engaging local media, businesses, and community driven organizations to help support these children. We already have a commitment for 25 book bags from the Godby Road Recreational Center, but in a community with more than 100 school age children, in economic hardship, though greatly appreciated, it is not enough. With your help, we can make a difference and help more children “Be Prepared To Learn” at the start of this school year, from a simple gift of $1700.
The gifts that The InTune Mother collects for South Hampton Estates students/residents can add up to make a real difference.
$1 = will gift a 10 pack of pencils
$2-3 = will gift a pack of pencils, pens, and notebook paper
$10 = will gift one book bag, pencils, pens, and 2 composition books
$20 = will gift one child’s school supplies for one semester
$50 = will gift one child’s school supplies for one year
$100 = will gift two children’s school supplies for one year
$300 = will gift students/residents two all-in-one printers (after school program)
$600 = will gift students/residents two desktop computers (after school program)
$1,700 = will gift 100 SHE students/residents resources for back school success
$5,000 = will gift SHE students/residents with a thriving community resource center (onsite)
$25,000 = School supplies and support for up to five years for (onsite) community resource center
The additional 100 children living at South Hampton Estates will be on the waiting list, hoping to receive their school supplies from our community driven initiative. The InTune Mother hopes to help build a bridge of support, one dollar at a time, offering alternatives to the cycle of poverty and economic hardship, thus activating more initiatives for surrounding communities as well.
